Frequently Asked Questions

Adelaide family photographer

Here are some questions often pondered by newcomers to Real Moments Photography. I’d love to answer any further questions you have, so please email or call me on 0408 801 487.

Where will the photo shoot take place?

I love the outdoors and often it’s the best place for a photographic shoot with older active children. Outdoor settings provide a picturesque, natural backdrop and also give you (and especially your children) the freedom to explore. I can suggest some of my favourite places or if you have a special location in mind, I’m happy to check it out.

For maternity, newborn and babies I prefer to photograph in my studio. It allows us to photograph in a quiet, calm and private environment without worrying about the weather.

What does it cost?

Your session with me is carefully planned and organized in a way that will showcase your family’s unique lifestyle, genuine love and affection. My discovery calls prior to the shoot will help me get to know you more, have a clear understanding on what you envision your photos to be like and determine the most ideal set up for you and your loved ones. We’ll go through the details of the cost together based on what we uncover during consultation. Exact prices will be provided for upfront. For Session Fee click here.

Is it too early to think about where I’ll hang my photographs?

Absolutely not! In fact, it’s a great idea to consider the finished product before the shoot. It’s part of my Discovery Calls with you where in we talk about the artwork size, where you’ll display your wall art and what format – portrait or landscape – will look best in that space. We can definitely collaborate on this, which will influence the type of photographs I take on the day. The more details you give me before the shoot, the more it would lead to the best results.

Do you provide digital imagery?

It’s my aim to provide you with luxury wall art and photographic keepsakes that will last a lifetime – even longer! With this in mind, I retain the digital imagery and take care of the production phase, so you receive a finished product of exceptional quality.

What should I know about copyright?

Simply that I retain the copyright on all photographs captured at your photographic shoot. This means that any reproduction of your photographs is not authorised without my permission.

What is an AIPP Certified Photographer?

AIPP Certified Photographer simply means you’ll be working with an accredited professional photographer. I’ve undergone the stringent accreditation process and satisfied the high standard requirements in my chosen profession. I’m a proud member of the AIPP as an accredited professional. Your photos with me are guaranteed to be personable and professional. Click here for more information about the AIPP.

What should we wear at the shoot?

There are a few hints about clothing that are worthwhile considering. Coordinate colours by choosing a colour theme, but try not to match exactly. I also find darker colours are more flattering. Avoid strong patterns, stripes and logos as these can distract the eye and try to wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move effortlessly.

What can we expect from a Beloved-style shoot?

Certainly no pressure and very little posing. Expect a playful time; a time to focus on each other with no distractions. You can also expect the unexpected, because fun games will prompt unrehearsed and amusing antics. Also, allow up to one and a half hours for your shoot.

Can I bring along a special item?

Please do! I highly encourage you to bring along items from your everyday life that make your heart sing! For example, you might bring a guitar, a trumpet or even dancing shoes. Your children might even like to dress up in their favourite costume. Items that are an integral part of your life tell so much about who you are and what you love and that’s what your photographs should capture. Keep in mind that toys, balls and cards can sometimes distract children, so avoid these items if possible.

How are my photographs presented?

At your design and ordering appointment, you’ll view a cinematic presentation of your photographs and also samples of the beautiful wall art. I offer a selection of superior quality products that are not available off the shelf. There are wall art pieces, available framed, as canvases or acrylic pieces, and you can also choose from beautiful art boxes and personalized albums. If you want something outside the square, I have unearthed photographic products that use metal and clear acrylic with stunning results. It really is an exquisite and exclusive collection that I’m proud to offer my clients.

What happens after the photo shoot?

We will meet soon after the shoot at the design and ordering appointment. All decision makers are required to attend to ensure everyone has a say in the final product choice. As it can take up to one and a half hours, it is best for you to make other care arrangements for your children. Choosing your photographs is sometimes the trickiest (and most fun) part, but I’m there to assist your photo selection and design your artwork keeping your home décor in mind. Please note that a 50% deposit is required at this appointment, with the final 50% due one week before pickup of final products. Production begins immediately after your order is placed and you can expect to receive your beautiful artwork within the arranged timeframe.

Can you help with Delivery and Installation?

I certainly can, I’d love to! My white glove service will give you the peace of mind you and your loved ones deserve after our photo shoot. From conceptualisation, production, post-production, enhancements of the photographs down to delivery and installation at your home, I do them all for you. Absolutely hassle-free.

Client Love..

Tracy, Adelaide

Sona is more than a photographer, she is like an artist, who uses the lens of the camera to capture the essence of moments with an honest candidness that is not seen with a lot of photography these days. Sona is able to foresee the landscape in play with the clients prior to clicking the camera to take the image, thus the end result is breathtaking imagery. My partner and I are very impressed with our photograph portfolio that we commissioned with Sona. I have never really been one for photos that are too staged. I prefer a candid, more natural look; an image that captures the essence of the moment. This can be a little hit and miss with some photographers and the images that they take. What I found with Real Moments Photography is that Sona is able to capture that essence of the moment in every image that she took. I now have a beautiful collection of photos in our photograph portfolio that will stand the test of time.

We were most nervous about the photo shoot being such novices and having an unpredictable child! We greatly appreciated the guidance on what to wear and bring. We were very pleased with the variety and quality of backgrounds and they complimented Victoria perfectly. Your warmth and persistence for the best shots meant we left the photo shoot satisfied and excited about what you'll produce. The outcome was beyond our expectations. Each piece of artwork is perfectly put together with photos of the highest quality. Now mounted on our living room wall, it is impossible to not get constantly distracted by how incredible they look.

Suman, Adelaide

This was our first professional shoot, we didn't know what to expect and were not sure if kids can be made to pose and smile! But we didn't know Sona has a great knack of letting us be just ourselves! We had a great family outing and got professional photos too! We absolutely love those photos and the products are worth every cent!

Krystal, Adelaide

Being our first family photo shoot we weren't sure what exactly to expect. With a nearly one year-old it always feels like we are rushing around, but Sona's studio was a relaxed and comfortable environment. We were extremely happy with the results when we went to the viewing. As well as some lovely shots of our little girl, there are a number of special moments and photographs of us all together which now hang in pride of place (the quality of which is excellent)

Nupur, Adelaide

We were delighted with the photos Sona took of our family and capturing the spirit of our love and bond. She went into an in depth analysis of our connections and things we like before the shoot and we felt absolutely relaxed with our photo shoot. Her photos were all stunning and I can spend hours looking at them. They truly are 'real moments'. Sona was very flexible with lay out options to allow for the pieces to fit in our home perfectly. Her photo shoot, selection of photos and after care service with the delivery of pieces was very professional. We are utterly delighted and forever grateful for her wonderful talent for capturing our family as it stands today.

A uniquely impressive experience from the day of shooting to receiving the finished product. Service and products received were above expectations, and second to none in quality. Two words to describe Real Moments Photography: Wow Factor!

Tracey

Thank you very much for making the session so relaxed and fun today. We enjoyed a hot chocolate afterwards and we all commented on how you managed to make us feel relaxed. It is something that rarely happens with me and photographers.

Andrew & Mel

We’re thrilled with the photos you took of Imogen and how fantastic the experience was Sona! For first time parents, it was a scary thought trying to get photos of a wriggly little baby, but you put us at ease and had an amazing way of calming both Imogen and ourselves.. The photos ended up better than we ever could have imagined, and we had so much fun with you on the day! Thank you so much Sona – we’ll definitely be back with child number 2….3…..

I used Real Moments Photography to get some professional photos of my two Golden Retrievers, it was something I was thinking of doing for a long time and had not gotten around to it. Sona and real moments photography were brilliant, Sona came around to my home and did some pre preparation work to find out exactly what I was looking for and hoping to achieve, from here we decided to choose a location along the river and set a date for the photo shoot. Sona was so easy to work with she was lovely with my dogs and even brought extra toys and things to attract their attention knowing that dogs can be difficult to work with, it was a lovely experience sitting on the river on a sunny day and the dogs enjoyed it and even got photos in the river. About 5 days later Sona delivered the photos to my house and we were able to see them projected on the wall in a larger size, I was very impressed with the technology that was used to help me choose my photos. After long deliberation I ended up with a large photo that has been framed and on my wall and smaller photos. I found the whole experience to be enjoyable, fun, and professional. I would recommend Sona and Real Moments Photography to anyone who is interested in creating some family memories.
