I had the privilege of capturing beautiful moments with such a lovely family. Together they radiate joy and their special bond is clear to see. Families like this are precisely why the Beloved genre of photography came to be. They wanted to be photographed at a park that they frequently visit, a place that has a special meaning to them. This element makes the story telling process even richer, since the park itself is a familiar presence to the family.
The family members have distinct characters that I try my best to capture. The daughter is the more serious one, she’s a real thinker. The son is outgoing and bubbly, befitting his younger age. They complement each other well and they love weaving stories together. They shared some stories with me and it was hilarious and lots of fun. The delight, sheer imagination and creativity of childhood are truly captivating. These are what the Beloved genre is meant to preserve and at the same time it also draws from that same creative energy to tell stories through photography.
